  4. But I Already Have A Water Filter

There’s a good chance you already have some sort of home water filtration system. But what you can’t see can hurt you. It’s easy to pick up aesthetic issues such as chlorine, hazy water or rotten egg smell. But contaminants such as PFAS, lead, arsenic, bacteria and viruses can pass through store-bought filters and go undetected.

You Should Know

Get Your Water Tested If…

While home inspectors look for major issues such as leaks, they don’t usually test the tap water. When securing a new home, there’s so many steps and checkpoints. It’s easy to step over some that may be obvious. Make sure your water isn’t compromised.

Boil water alerts can happen when a water source becomes compromised or water mains break. While they usually resolve themselves in a few days, if you are seeing a pattern of these alerts in your area, you might want to check the composition of your water.

We offer EPA approved well testing for your Oklahoma City home. While this test is not free, it comes at an affordable price. Since private wells are not regulated, it’s recommended you test it twice a year.

If your water tastes or smells strange, it’s a good idea to get your water tested. Rotten eggs, metal, bleach? These are all off-putting odors and flavors you don’t want in your final recipes! Sulfur, iron and chlorine could be the culprit.

Hard water typically leaves its mark on your appliances, dishes and fixtures. It can leave your hair dull and your skin dry. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, a free basic water analysis will pinpoint the issue.

Water Quality Testing FAQs

Is Oklahoma City tap water safe to drink?

Oklahoma City municipal water is disinfected and treated to meet EPA standards. However, there are new and emerging contaminants that are not yet regulated by the EPA. Implementing and updating regulations can be a slow process so it is our recommendation to have a drinking water filter in place that will reduce most contaminants.

Is Oklahoma City water fluoridated?

Yes, the City of Oklahoma City does fluoridate their water. Each municipality handles water fluoridation differently. A Culligan Reverse Osmosis Filter System will remove fluoride from water.

How can I test my well water?

We can offer a free basic water analysis or send in a more in-depth analysis to our laboratory for a fee. Either way, if you contact your local Culligan dealer they can find the right test for you.

How hard is Oklahoma City water?

The hardness of Oklahoma City water depends on where you live as OKC covers a vast area and many different aquifers. In general if you’re on city water it can be between 3-18 grains hard and for well water 18-23 grains hard. Our water experts will be able to tell you exactly how hard your water is and recommend the best water softener for you.

What does the free in-home water test test for?

Your Culligan man can test for hardness, PH, chlorine, and Total Dissolved Solids on the spot. In some cases, they may recommend a more comprehensive water analysis for a fee that would need to be sent to our laboratory.
