Deionized Water in Oklahoma City

What is Deionized water?
Deionized water (DI Water) is a water treatment process that strips impurities from water. DI Water is commonly used to demineralize process water in commercial and industrial applications via ion exchange resins. Because it removes all impurities from water, DI Water is typically used in industries where high purity water applications are required, such as medical, laboratories or manufacturing.
How is water Deionized?
Deionization is most commonly achieved with the use of special resins which act as a magnet, attracting and removing ions from water. This process requires both a cation and anion resin to remove negatively and positively charged particles; The second form of deionization is electro deionization (EDI). EDI is a highly specialized method we will explain in a dedicated article.
What is Portable Exchange Deionization (PEDI)?
PEDI utilizes portable exchange resin tanks filled with either weak base, strong base or mixed bed cation and anion exchange resins. We will dedicate an entire article to the key differences and advantages to each later, but essentially all three utilize a special resin with a set demineralization capacity. Mollman’s water can provide businesses and individuals with the correct PEDI tank setup for their needs, delivered and setup on site, then exchanged and regenerated as needed. Our custom facility in Oklahoma City can regenerate exhausted DI resins through a chemical process over and over again.

What is the difference between Deionization VS Distilled water VS Reverse Osmosis (RO)?
Deionized (DI) water is typically the most cost-effective way to achieve the highest purity water. DI water is achieved chemically using resins. Distilled water is achieved mechanically through evaporation. RO water is achieved mechanically through special membranes. The process for RO water & Distilled water consumes large amounts of energy, up front capital, and ongoing maintenance. There are times where the use of RO and DI water are combined, often referred to as RODI water. RODI water is regarded as the highest purity water one can practically achieve in the real world for industrial purposes. Distillation is not as widely used as RO or DI because of its inherent inefficiency, high energy consumption and high maintenance costs.
